Ceramics

Grades 1-2
Sessions 4 (AM) and 5 (AM)

 

Artistic imagination will take shape in this exciting and popular class! Campers will be able to use their creative sense to mold and shape their own creations out of clay. Under the guidance, expertise, and supervision of the instructor, they will then glaze and fire their creations to take home! This class is a favorite at Norwood during the school year, so register quickly! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

Awesome Art

Grades 1 – 2

Sessions 1 (AM), 3 (AM), and 5 (PM)

 

In this popular Summer at Norwood classic, budding artists have the opportunity to explore and express their creativity through various forms of art. In one of Norwood’s art studios, campers will undertake a variety of projects and use their skills to create works that they can take home to display proudly!  Students’ work may include drawing, painting, collage, creative projects using recycled materials, and more! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

3D Art 

Grades 1-2

Campers will take their art to the next dimension in this innovative, hands-on, super creative 3D art class!  By learning how to create depth, length, and height in their artwork with different media and materials, campers will be able to create unique, inspiring three-dimensional works of art.  Whether they’re creating art that looks like it’s jumping off the page or creating sculptures out of eclectic materials, campers will love their artistic 3D masterpieces! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

Craftastic

Grades 1-2
Session 3 (PM)  and 7 (PM)

 

This class is perfect for young campers who love hands-on creativity!  Campers will create fun and interesting craft projects with a fictional purpose.   Our crafters will use and experiment with a wide variety of materials and craft styles to create interesting, functional, fun, and colorful works of art. *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).    

 

 

 

 

Little Picassos 

Grades 1-2

Session 2 (AM), 4 (PM) and 6 (PM)

 

What child doesn’t love to paint?  But painting can be messy at home.  No worries – We have the perfect class for your budding painter!  In this hands-on art class, campers will explore different types of painting using water color, tempera, and acrylic paints.  Campers will paint a variety of fun and interesting subjects and objects that they can take home to display proudly!   Picasso never had this much fun! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

 

 

Fun with Clay 

Grades 1-2

Session 1 (AM) 

 

Starting with nothing more than a lump of clay, campers will be amazed at the works of art they’ll create in this inspiring class.  Campers will be introduced to the art of sculpture as they form imaginative creations with their own hands out of clay.  They’ll also learn to use a variety of clay tools, and they may even paint some of their clay creations.    And best of all, campers will create a wide variety of projects throughout the week to take home to enjoy for a lifetime! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).    

 

 

 

3D Art

Art is a diverse range of creations that express an artist’s imaginative and creative skills, and young people are among the world’s greatest natural artists!   Campers in Art Blast will explore advanced studio art techniques by examining the elements of art and the principles of design in the pursuit of creating an accomplished work of art.   We will accomplish our goals by investigating a wide variety of art mediums to help campers acquire and hone advanced skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and more! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

Costume Creation

Grade 3-5

Session 4 (AM)

In this festive class, campers will have fun celebrating the historical art of costume and culture. From Mardi Gras to Marvel comics, we’ve loved changing character through dress and design!  Campers will enjoy face painting, decorating masks and creating costumes, as well as storytelling and discovering cultural foods that surround celebration. And of course, by the end of the session, campers will have a costume party. *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).    

 

Cartooning and Comics

Grades 3 – 6

Session 2 (PM) and 6 (PM)

 

Everyone loves cool cartoons!  In this scintillating class, campers will learn about cartooning as an art form, as well as how to create their own cartoons, cartoon characters, comic strips, and storyboards.  Campers will experiment with drawing several different characters to perfect and develop their own cartooning style.  By the end of the session, our cartoon artists will have created a comic strip or comic book surrounding the cartoon character/s they have brought to life! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

 

Global Artists

Grades 3-5

Session 4 (AM) and  7 (AM)

Asia! Europe! South America! Africa and more. Take an artistic world tour without leaving Norwood’s art studio. This experience will enhance your child creativity allowing them to learn, explore and to discover. Students will learn to view art in a new way and create projects in artistic styles from around the globe. Projects may include, African masks, Spanish mosaics, French impressionism, Japanese traditional art and much more.  *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

 

 

Stitch Art 

Grades 3-5
Sessions 3 (AM)

 

 A stitch in time, saves nine!   Campers will learn knitting and crocheting techniques in this “crafty” class.  They will create multiple projects that can be worn or displayed.   An experienced teacher will guide the campers through the creation of their individual projects.   We’ll provide the thread, yarn, and needles - campers will bring their creative spirit and their fingers to do the rest!  Perfect for beginners or campers with knitting experience.  Crafty campers will love learning and developing this lifelong hobby.  *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

 

 

 

Mixed Media Art

Grades 3 – 6

Session 6 (AM)

Is your child creative? Does he or she like to color, paint or sculpt? Then this is the class for them. Campers will create a series of mixed media art projects, using more than one artistic medium. Mixed media art allows your child to explore the world of layering art, though, drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.  Campers will learn how to create actual and simulated texture while created mix media art projects as well as experiment with value, color, composition and design. *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

 

 

 

 

Stop Motion Animation

Grades 3 – 6

Sessions 2 (AM) 

This popular class will focus on learning and experimenting with animation using the stop-animation techniques required in bringing diverse mediums used for animation to life.  Campers will create a storyboard to help in the development of their ideas for their stop-motion animation movies.  Campers will use clay, cardboard, and various other materials to create characters and a set for their animation.   Campers will also learn how to use Windows Movie Maker to create a stop-motion animation that will be two to five minutes in length.  By the end of the session, campers will have a complete stop-motion animation movie with credits and sound.  

 

 

 

Digital Art and Design NEW!

Grades 3 – 5

Session 5 (AM)

Campers will use a variety of software tools to create fun and interesting digital art projects and animations.  This class with focus on learning graphic art tools and techniques, while exploring the principles of art and design. Campers will creatively demonstrate the principles of art through their digital creations and learn the key concept in creating a successful work of art through digital art and graphic design.

 

 

 

 

Woodcrafts

Grades 3-5

Session 5 (AM)

 

This class is perfect for campers who are eager to create and build.  Young woodworkers will learn to craft various projects in an inspiring and age-appropriate manner, all with wood!  Whether creating birdhouses, picture frames, or wooden toys, our future carpenters will love using their own hands to assemble wonderful wooden crafts!  *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

Sculpting NEW!

Grades 4 – 8

Session 3 (PM)

Art is so much more than just drawing and painting!  This mixed media class is for creative campers who want to work with their hands!  Campers will learn how to express themselves and the world around them through sculpture and design.  Budding artists will be amazed at the works of art they’ll create in this inspiring class.  And best of all, campers get to take home their works of art to enjoy for a lifetime! *Material Fee: $25 (Two-Week Session), $15 (One-Week Session).

Digital Comic Book

Grades 5 – 8

Sessions 5 (AM) 

Does your child love reading comic books? Has your camper wanted to create one of their own? This class will allow students to use his imagination to write and design his own comic book story that consist of a plot, climax and conclusion. Campers will create a story board to develop ideas for comic book. Campers will learn and explore basic Photoshop tools and techniques, and use what they have learned to create a digital comic book. Students will be able to design a main character for their comic, along with using familiar characters for the development of the comic book story.

Photography

Grades 4 – 8

Sessions 2 (PM) and 5 (PM)

 

There is a lot more to photography than pointing a smart phone and clicking!  In photography class, campers will begin to develop an eye for the elements that go into taking a great photo. Developing photographers will gain an awareness of the fundamental elements of shape, form, composition, light, and shadow. Current editing techniques will be explored using Adobe Photoshop Elements to enhance imagery. Campers will create their own portfolios that will showcase their photographs of landscapes, portraits, and architecture. The cameras will be provided, so all campers need to bring is their creativity and enthusiasm!

 

Studio Art

Grades 5 – 8

Sessions 5 (AM) 

This immersive class will allow campers will learn, explore and investigate a wide variety of art mediums. Campers will demonstrate the elements of art and the principles of design while honing skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and more.   Studio Art campers will enjoy learning and exploring advanced studio art techniques by creating their own creative works of art.
