Day camp Specialist
We are no longer accepting applications for the specialist position in 2023
Specialists are at least 21 years old. The Specialist position works in the Day Camp Program 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties may include:
-
Teach specialty, subject-based activities periods for each Day Camp class.
-
Creation, implementation, and oversight of their class curriculum and lesson plans.
-
Manage materials for their specialty activities.
-
Daily set-up and breakdown of class activities.
-
Supervise lunch, recess, or carpool.
-
Make each camper feel welcome, comfortable, and known.

Day camp Group leader
we are accepting group leader applications for session 4 only
Group Leaders are at least 19 years old. The Group Leader position works in the Day Camp program 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties may include:
-
Primary leader of a camper class during a session.
-
Assist Specialists with execution of specialty activities.
-
Manage the day-to-day schedule of their class.
-
Supervise lunch or recess, and breaks with their class.
-
Manage AM and PM carpool.
-
Set tone for class norms, rules, and expectations.
-
Create and foster a sense of community and cohort cohesiveness.
-
Make each camper feel welcome, comfortable, and known.

Junior Day Teachers are at least 21 years old. The Junior Day Teacher position works in the Junior Day program 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties include:
-
Primary leader of a Junior Day camper class during a session.
-
Creation, implementation, and oversight of their class curriculum and lesson plans.

Supervise lunch and recess with their class.

Manage counselor(s) assigned to their class.
-
Manage AM and PM carpool.
-
Set tone for class norms, rules, and expectations.
-
Create and foster a sense of community and cohort cohesiveness.

Make each camper feel welcome, comfortable, and known.

Counselors are at least 15 years old and have completed 10th grade. The Counselor position works in the either the Day Camp, Junior Day or Middle School Academy Programs 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties include:

Maintain high energy, exhibit emotional maturity, and sound judgement.
-
Assist Group Leaders and Specialists in all areas and activities.
-
Assist with lunch, recess, and breaks for campers.
-
Assist with AM and PM carpool.
-
Make sure each camper feels welcome, comfortable, and known.

Adventure Camp
Pod Leaders and Counselors
we are no longer accepting adventure camp applications for 2023
Adventure Camp Pod Instructors are at least 22 years old and lead a pod of 12 Adventure campers on daily excursions leading various outdoor recreational activities. Adventure Counselors are at least 18 years old and assist the Pod Instructors and accompany the pod of Adventure campers on daily excursions.
Duties include:
-
Adventure Pod Instructors will drive a 14-passenger bus to daily excursion locations.
-
Pod Instructors must have experience in outdoor recreational activities/outdoor education.
-
Outdoor recreational experience is preferred for Counselors.

CITs are at least 14 years old and have completed 9th grade. The CIT position is a volunteer position, providing assistance to the Day Camp, Junior Day, or Middle School Academy programs 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties include:
-
Volunteer position. Eligible for SSL hours if pre-approval acquired from CIT's school.

Assist Group Leaders and Specialists in camp classes.
-
Assist in multiple classes or programs each session.
-
Maintain high energy, exhibit emotional maturity, and sound judgement.

Make sure each camper feels welcome, comfortable, and known.

After care
After Care employees are Group Leaders, Specialists and Counselors working during the summer. After Care runs 3:20 -5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can indicate After Care availability within your employment application.
After Care includes:
-
Supervising campers in a variety of fun activities.
-
Flexible schedule throughout each session.
-
Assist with camper pick-up

Make sure each camper feels welcome, comfortable, and known.

CAmp Nurse
Summer at Norwood is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to run our camp health room and serve as camp nurse from June 20-30 and July 31-August 18. Dates are flexible and job sharing is possible.

Qualifications:

Current CPR Certification

Experience working with children.
Duties:
-
Administering medications to campers/staff in accordance with MDH regulations for youth camps and maintaining appropriate records
-
Maintaining daily health visit/treatment log
-
Managing camper health information records
-
Providing medical supervision, support, and services for campers and staff
-
Communicating with camp families as necessary regarding camper health visits and/or health forms
-
Use of online registration system to access camper records
-
Working under the guidance of Summer at Norwood’s Health Supervisor to ensure that the camp medical program meets all requirements of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)

Communicating with the Summer at Norwood Director Team to ensure a healthy and smooth program
